of the health care organizations use of medical information. The
Healthcare Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996
is a set of regulatory restrictions imposed on healthcare
providers, payers, and clearinghouses, the law is designed to
simplify the transfer of health information between
organizations, increase efficiency and decrease costs associated
with the healthcare system, and provide guidelines from the
privacy of patient information. Once simplified the law requires
